Demeter

I have returned to making altars again in preparation for the 2017 Comic Con. I received a serendipitous gift of hundreds of tiny pewter jewelry bits. I made Demeter as a thank you gift for the friend who gave me these items. Demeter is the Greek Goddess of grain and the harvest as well as the renewal of growing things. I always try to show gratitude for anything I receive that helps me in my art. Gratitude in general is a way of life for me. Being thankful for the good things in life makes us aware of our surroundings and situations.

Comic Con Recap

Comic Con was a wonderful, magickal and exhausting whirlwind. We reconnected with old friends, met some amazing and talented new people and generally immersed ourselves in the chaos that is the convention. Thank you to all the special people who bought my artwork...may it bring you joy!

Comicon Bound!

I will be exhibiting at the 2016 San Diego Comic Con Art Show. I have numerous small assemblage altars as well as some lovely Dolly Kei/Steampunk inspired pendants and brooches. I love the whimsy combined with folklore that the Dolly Kei aesthetic represents and I am finding elements of it creeping into my artwork more and more. There is also an influence of old New Orleans in each of these pieces. The ornate and crumbling wrought iron, the layers of paint and elegant decay. I want the art to emulate the atmosphere of a place that is very dear to my heart.

Mama Guntu

Greetings Oddlings...

I have a new lady to add to my growing collection of shrunken heads. Mama Guntu is nestled on palm fibers with a background of authentic vintage tapa cloth from the South Pacific. She is very sweet and gentle.

I have decided not to do Comic Con this year. I need a short break to regenerate after last year. My next convention will be Conjecture in October. More lovely strange creations to be unveiled soon...

Updates and Such

Greetings All...

Well it has been an interesting year of challenges and changes...with more to come in the next month. My studio is currently on hiatus until the changes occur but I have some amazing oddities planned for both the Gaslight Steampunk convention in May and Comic Con in July. Lots of beautiful and strange creatures displayed in weathered shadowboxes, ornate and distressed crosses, and one of a kind jewelry  and medals.

I am most excited about the creatures...Fiji mermaids, mandrake roots, mummified faeries and mythological animals. If you enjoy filling your home with odd, crumbling dead things...this is the place for you!
